No One Dies

We don't "die" as is commonly understood or conceptualized. Many define death as ceasing to exist. As Believers, we understand that we do not cease to exist. A human either ascends to be with The Father, or descends to Hell and will be in either place forever. Once Yahweh decided to make you and breathe that breath of life into you...that's it. You are immortal. You will never die. You will always be somewhere.

In movies, tv and other narrative-based entertainment media, we have all grown up listening to plotlines where some central character is motivated by the attainment of immortality. We listen to these stories and are inculcated to believe that we should desire immortality because we are believed not to be immortal. We don't have to contend for it. It is our reality.

Hebrews 9:27 says we have an appointment set to die once and then be judged. But because we know no one actually ceases to exist, it is important to observe the sense of the word "die." God is not speaking about death in the sense of one disappearing forever, rather, I believe He is referring to death in the sense of a permanent separation from Himself.

The Bible mentions two deaths. Essentially Hebrews 9:27 and Revelation 20:14-15. There are multiple places in the Bible where He speaks about these things. Some believe after your physical body dies(your spirit is removed, which is the real you, and the body eventually literally disappears through decomposition ) you either ascend to Heaven or Hell immediately. Others believe no one is in either place yet but resting in their graves as a sort of "soul sleep" until a future judgment.

Either way, The Lord never mentions anything about us disappearing. He does refer to death as a separation. A separation of you from your body. A separation from the face of the earth. A separation from Him. He also has intended this to be permanent.

So moving forward, whenever we hear that someone has died, think of it as that person has vacated their physical body and are either with The Father or not. I personally say someone has transitioned. A person transitions to the next realm. Lastly, I leave you with Matthew 7:13-14. Sadly, most people that have ever lived do not make it to Heaven. Due to this reality, let us regularly stay before The Prince of Peace and strive to be who He wants us to be.
